GEW’s patented LW1 lamphead is the most effective water-cooled LED UV curing technology on the market.
LEDs’ high intensity UVA radiation is able to penetrate heavily pigmented ink layers, such as in offset printing, for more consistent curing with improved adhesion, delivering faster speeds.
Even thin, delicate, heat-sensitive materials can be processed without heat damage or registration loss (eliminating the need for chill rollers in some situations), because nearly all heat generated by the LED array is conducted away to the rear heatsink, with almost pure UV radiated towards the substrate.
Instant on/off switching means that with LEDs there is no warm-up or cool-down cycle due to the simple switch and go technology of LEDs. LED arrays require less frequent maintenance as they last over 20,000 hours (between 5 to 7 times longer than a typical GEW E2C UV arc lamp). Because LED systems have no moving parts, there is no downtime to replace, shutters, reflectors, mechanisms or lamps.
The absence of harmful mercury content and ozone creates a better working environment. There are no particular precautions to take with LEDs because, compared to conventional set-ups, the system is simpler and has no moving parts.
Instant on-off switching means with LED no energy is consumed when the printing press is idle between jobs. Higher electrical efficiency of LEDs and the purity of UV output allow typical energy savings in excess of 50% on a typical UV arc lamp.
With intelligent power management the current draw form each mains phase is balanced and harmonic distortion is minimised, reducing the energy demand registered by your electricity meter.
Military-grade electronic design protects the UV system from damage caused by incorrect voltage, short-to-ground, dropped phases, mains spikes and lightning strikes. In the event of a serious mains disruption, the system powers down in a safe mode.
RHINO is designed to run in harsh conditions at ambient temperatures of up to +40°C. The system is also unaffected by dust, ink mist and other atmospheric contaminants.
A compact cabinet that houses the RHINO power supplies and provides perfect cooling, atmospheric protection and mains power distribution. Power supplies slide into rack and connect quickly, enabling more lamps to be easily added to the system in future.
The RHINO control automatically logs energy use and displays it on screen at the touch of a button, showing kWh consumption in operation, at idle and % production uptime.
Our Embedded Service Package regularly sends system performance data to GEW for analysis. A system health report is generated, highlighting any out-of-tolerance parameters requiring maintenance attention before a fault can develop.
The Event Log continually records system use and operating parameters. The log can be checked to ensure the system is working at peak efficiency, avoiding energy waste and unplanned downtime.
Multilingual instructions are easily accessible on every screen together with a library of tutorials and videos, troubleshooting and maintaining the system.
